Fourteen days until Christmas…is that right??? Even though I got my Christmas decorations up uncharacteristically early this year, I still can’t believe there’s only two weeks to go. While the shorter holiday shopping season has me behind on my gift list, my house all dressed up and ready to go thanks to the Blogger Stylin’ Home Tours, Christmas Edition. I had so much fun sharing my fall home tour and following along with all the other bloggers so I was thrilled when Lindsay from The White Buffalo Styling Co. asked me to participate in the Christmas Tour. This time there are 53 bloggers involved and let me tell you, there are some magazine-worthy homes being shown. If you’re following along in true home tour style from Summer’s blog, Simple Stylings, welcome!
Ever since freshman year of college I have slowly but steadily amassed a ridiculous amount of hand-me-down Christmas decor. Usually I am all for repurposing but this year the extra jolly ceramic Santa and those macaroni ornament frames are staying put in storage so I could pick up some things that work better with my existing decor.
My decision to go with a red, white and silver color scheme was pretty easy. I did a red and white table last year and loved how punchy the red was against all the neutrals in my home. Once I spotted these pretty crystal glasses at HomeGoods, the deal was sealed. I created a simple tablescape with a Christmas tree forest and an old peppermint bark tin to give the arrangement a little more height.
This was my first and last time ever stinging real cranberries. I love the way they look but the project left me with a few bleeding fingers and a cranberry stained chair. Plus, I totally overestimated how many it takes to get a few strands and now have two full Costco bags of cranberries. Any one have any good recipes that require a gazillion cranberries?
I used these glittery treat boxes last year and filled them with peppermints. I’m thinking of doing peppermint truffles or maybe some homemade peppermint bark this year instead.
For the entry, I grabbed a few things from around the house and swiped a crate from my living room bookcase to make a snowflake diorama. I always like to include snowflakes in my Christmas decor since it’s probably the closest I’ll ever get to a white Christmas.
I was extra picky about our tree this year so I wouldn’t be known as that one blogger with the Charlie Brown tree. I dragged my darling husband to three different lots before we found the right one, but I’m almost positive he agrees it was totally worth it. My favorite addition to our tree this year is the disco ball ornaments and flowers. I love how they scatter tiny bits of light in the afternoon.
My green cabinet conveniently plays along with my red holiday accents.
And then one last picture of my tree because I love it so much.
