Have you walked through the home decor isles at Target lately? I usually make it there once a month or so and every time I am pleasantly surprised with a new item or an entirely new collection. When Target announced last May that they were coming out with a new in-house line of products called “Threshold”, I wasn’t holding my breath. No offense Target, but you have never been at the top of my affordable decor source list. But when the products started hitting shelves last September, I was more than happy to say I was wrong. The new product line incorporates Native American patterns, menswear stripes, equestrian motifs, brass accents, and a prominent emphasis on texture. A big W in the win column for Target.
In late December, Target quietly rolled out their newest Threshold line, “Modern Cottage Collection.” Again, I found myself eating my words and scooping up a few items from the line. Priced from $9.99-129.99, the products are markedly more modern than those in the Threshold collection and offer pops of bright coral and aqua mixed with black, white, and gray. The geometric prints, mirrored accents, and Asian influenced details have been a big hit with consumers thus far and it’s easy to see that Target has really stepped up their home decor game.
Target has announced that there will a larger debut of new items from their Threshold collection this spring and I can’t wait to see what they have up their sleeve. I am always a big fan of great design that is accessible to the masses and I’m so glad Target is doing their part to help those of us on a budget pretty up our homes without breaking the bank.
