2013 Design Trend: Embellished Walls

One of my favorite design trends for 2013 is embellished walls. Bringing some texture to a flat surface creates dimension and interest. There are almost limitless ways to bring this fun trend into your home in 2013 but I’ve compiled some of my favorites for your DIY pleasure.

This charming design by the Jeffers Design Group uses an unlikely outdoor material to create warmth in a sun room. Paneling walls with roofing shingles fuses the outdoors with the indoors and adds a unique design element to the room.

Embellished Walls2 2013 Design Trend: Embellished Walls Pay homage to your by your favorite novels like Wilma from By Wilma did by papering your walls with their pages. Not only is this chic idea a fun twist on plain old wallpaper, it’s a great way to recycle old materials.

 2013 Design Trend: Embellished Walls Fabric wallpaper is a great solution for renters looking to spruce up their walls and not break their lease. This fabulous stenciled fabric wallpaper DIY featured on Modern Parents Messy Kids uses liquid starch to adhere the fabric to the wall.

This creative woman used 30,000 bottle caps to embellish the exterior of her home in colorful geometric patterns. Since most of us don’t have thousands of bottle caps on hand, this idea could be translated on a smaller scale like a wall border.

    • Me too Michelle! I love that gold tape and the double framed black tape. I hate hanging pictures too- I can never get them EXACTLY right. This would be a great solution for renters not wanting to put holes in their walls too!
