Introduced at this year’s Prefab Showcase in Palm Springs, the C6 Home delivers modern green living at an affordable price. Constructed to meet LEED Platinum standards, the building is 51% more efficient than Title 24 building energy codes. The C6 Home is the result of a fitting collaboration between Los Angeles based LivingHomes and New Orleans nonprofit, Make it Right. Founded by architect William McDonough and Brad Pitt, the organization was built with a goal of building 150 sustainable and affordable homes in New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward.
Priced at just $179,00, the 3 bedroom, 2 bath home is designed to allow for plenty of natural light with the installation of solar tubes, clerestory and transom windows, and floor-to-ceiling glass. The home includes many sustainable energy saving features and materials like cork flooring, LED lights, counters made from recycled materials, super insulation and ceiling fans, a real time energy consumption monitoring system, and a Verve living system which can control the lighting in specific areas or the entire house with one switch.
The C6 Home will be open for tours until February 26th as part of the Palm Springs Modernism Week.
